A Two Car Couple!

After months of searching, a $2000 scam, several car dealerships and years of carpooling, Bob and I have finally become a 2 car couple! Today, we purchased a beautiful 2009 Subaru Legacy. It's an all wheel drive, 4 door sedan with power everything and a sunroof. I really like it, though I'm more attached to my cute little Forenza, so I won't be taking over the shiny newer car any time soon. Not that Bob would let me! He loves his new car and has been finding any and every excuse he can to drive her. We have her fully financed, and she is now insured, so the only thing we have left is to name this baby!

In other news, Suzi aka The Boop Mobile (our other car) is officially paid off! We paid her off at the same time we financed our new car. We also paid off our honeymoon last month so this new car is the ONLY debt we currently have. This seemed like the perfect time to meet with a financial advisor and map out our future. We sat down with someone and wrote out a budget, our goals and how to best meet those goals with our current income. She informed us that while we could get in a house now without a down payment, the smart thing to do is to wait a while and save up as much as we can. We will end up with lower interest rates and a lot less fees with a down payment that should save us a lot of money in the end. While I was slightly disappointed to learn it may be a little over a year before we can begin our house search, I know that listening to the financial advisor is the best course of action and I have put my dream of home-ownership on the back burner while I save as much money as I possibly can to put toward a down payment. I'm still excited for the direction our lives are going though and can't wait to see what the next year will bring us!
