My Birthday Part 2!

Bob reserved my actual birthday for some alone time just the two of us. It was fantastic! We both took work off so we were able to bum around the house doing absolutely nothing and loving it for most of the day! Finally we decided to get ready so we could go to dinner. He took me to one of my favorite restaurants: Red Iguana! There was a bit of a wait (yes even on a Tuesday night) but it's worth it for some of the best Mexican food in Utah! Bob and I got some nachos to snack on before dinner, but I didn't want to eat too much since I knew my tacos were coming. Finally it was time for the main course! My Tacos don Ramon with some Horchata to wash it all down with. As always the food was delectable and I licked my fingers clean!
Bob made me breakfast as well. It was
supposed to be in bed, but I didn't cooperate
Bob's gifts for me. I think he knows I'm excited
for warm weather...

Waiting for dinner
After dinner we went home to say some quick goodbyes to our pets and pack some overnight bags before heading to our hotel room. We checked in before the pool closed for the night so we decided to take a nice relaxing dip first. I showed off some of my swim moves for Bob and he attempted to mimic them, though rather poorly. Then after some paddling around, it was into the hot tub to warm up! Finally it was up to our room to shower off, and cuddle up in bed. I love my in-laws, but it felt INCREDIBLE to get away for a night and finally have some privacy not to mention some peace and quiet all night long! I slept great! The next morning we milked our time as much as we could until it was time to check out. Then it was back home to take care of our critters (and finally do the taxes we had been avoiding...). That night Bob's family gave me their gifts and cards and we spent some more time relaxing knowing it was back to work the next day!

My goofy hubby in our hotel room
Thursday I met up with my new boss Shamae (who is the best boss I have had at 1-800-Contacts by far, but more on that some other time) my co-workers Teresa and Mariah and our HR lady Becky for lunch on 1-800-Contacts dime for my birthday. I always try to pick somewhere I haven't been to yet so that if it's horrible, at least I don't have the guilt of having to pay for it... This year I picked Vinto. The decor is kind of modern eclectic, and the food is reasonably priced but surprisingly delicious! I ordered the Margarita pizza, which was bomb for sure, but as the birthday girl everyone offered me samples of their meals as well and everything was great. It was hard to pick a favorite. Afterwards we ventured around the corner to Gourmandise for dessert. We all got little cookies, and I got a strawberry kiwi tart as well. Afterwards everyone headed back to work except for me. I went to cuddle my husband for another hour before coming in!

Once at work my team gave me more sweets! A cupcake from Sweet Tooth Fairy and a Happy Birthday Soda! The cleaning lady at work, Lili, also got me a cute little mini cake. It was super sweet since I didn't expect anything from her, I didn't even know she knew it was my birthday! I told my husband how spoiled I got at work, and he said good. He wants me to plump up a bit because I'm too skinny. I don't know whether to be upset that he is trying to make me fat, or be giddy that he thinks I'm skinny and will love me even if I do get fat. Either way, I guess that's what I married into, and I sure do love him! Thank you to everyone who helped make my birthday so special. Here's to another great year! I can't wait to see what's in store...

My Birthday Part 1!

When you get married, suddenly your birthDAY becomes more like a birthWEEK! Festivities for my birthday started this weekend. On Saturday my friends got their turn to celebrate with me. Bob and I met up with Shelby, Tyson and their baby Kynzi, Sarah, Chelsea, Jeanine, Renee, Anya and Corrin at Faustina downtown. Chelsea and I were the most punctual of the group so we were able to save the table while we waited for everyone else to trickle in. It didn't help that an accident on the freeway caused backed up traffic for most of my guests. Luckily the food was delicious and more than made up for our late start! I tried their goat cheese appetizers, which were delicious! As well as their bacon wrapped dates and... GASP I gathered enough nerve to try calamari! It was kind of like chicken but slimier. Not exactly something I will be scarfing down in the future but nothing to gag on either which was surprising! Dinner for me was Chicken Marsala, which was good but not great. The drinks and desserts were to die for though, and our server was AMAZING!

After dinner Shelby and Tyson had to go so they could put Kynzi to bed. Bob wasn't so sure about being the only guy at the after dinner party so he asked if I would rather make the night a girls night and he would come pick me up when we were done. My girlies had my back though and told him not to worry, they would take me home instead. Then it was off to Inferno to dance the rest of the night away. I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that the men at this club more or less left my group alone. I think they could tell we didn't come to meet anyone, just having a girls night. Unfortunately as last call grew closer, the desperate men started closing in on us which made everyone a bit uncomfortable so it was time to leave! After saying our goodbyes and piling into our cars (where we were thankfully finally able to take our shoes off!) it was time to head home to our cozy beds!

Sunday was my family's turn to celebrate with me. I went to my parents where my dad had fired up the BBQ to make everyone some yummy burgers. After scarfing down dinner, it was time to open presents. I got lots of good stuff. I got Despicable Me 2, and The Lone Ranger DVDs, a nice stainless steel garbage can for the kitchen I hope to have soon, some desperately needed new jeans and some cute Betty Boop socks! After opening my presents, I was surprised to find out Bob and I were the only ones who had seen The Lone Ranger, so we put it on for the family to watch. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. There were giggles all around, and Rachel, Savannah and I made a fun little dance to the theme song which we did until our arms grew tired and Kelsey hid her face from her boyfriend Jordan in embarrassment! While the movie was coming to a close my dad got cake and ice cream prepared for everyone. I blew all the candles out in one breath (that's 24 candles in case you didn't know) so my wish will be coming true this year! Hooray! After dessert and some more fun and games with my family, it was time to call it a night. Thanks for spoiling me rotten! Love you guys!

I still have celebrations with my husband, his family and my coworkers to look forward to this week! I think it's safe to say I am spoiled, and I'm surrounded by a wonderful group of people that I'm lucky enough to call my family and my friends. Stay tuned for Part 2 of my 24th birthday extravaganza!

A Family Pow Wow

This past weekend was largely uneventful, but it was busy busy busy for Bob and I! As many of you know, Bob and I have a fair number of pets and in a variety as well. On a normal day we have to make sure everyone has food and water, as well as I need to clean reptile tanks, switch the lizard lights, and occasionally clean the litter box. We have a routine down so this is usually a pretty easy task but this weekend we weren't just taking care of our own pets. We were also house sitting for my parents and caring for their 3 dogs and 2 cats. It was an adventure trying to balance both households as well as our jobs, and it was exhausting so we didn't make it out for any fun.

Luckily for me, I took Monday off so I could go to the Utes Pow Wow with my family out in Roosevelt, so I did get some fun after all! Bob wasn't as lucky, and he had to go to work. Monday afternoon all my sisters piled in the car and we took off on our mini road trip! We drove out of the sunny SLC valley and right into crazy winds followed by some pretty heavy snow fall. Eventually we made it to the Utes Reservation. Once there we enjoyed watching and taking pictures of the dancers and story tellers before feasting on some delicious Navajo Tacos! Then we left my parents in Roosevelt and headed back to the city and our cozy beds.
Waiting to leave
