Wedding Planning Update

Alright so I haven't had much to post the last couple weeks about our wedding plans but I know some people are curious about what we have gotten done, so I thought I would give everyone a quick update! For those of you who don't know, the ceremony and reception will take place in my parents backyard on September 27th 2012. We have already reserved our tables, chairs and table linens, but the yard work on the yard has only just began. (For those of you who love helping in gardens just for the sake of helping out, my parents will take any volunteers. Most of the work is done on Saturdays and Sundays when my dad doesn't have to work.) Anyway, I have been working with my cousin and the company she works for with my catering. It will be a desert bar, so make sure you eat dinner before coming to the reception! We have picked a cake company and invitation company to work through, though we havent made the invites yet, or picked out the actual cake. My good friend Brittani Bailey is going to be doing our flowers, and my other good friend Jeanine Ly is going to be doing our photography. We actually just got our engagement pictures taken yesterday downtown and at Memory Grove Park, and are now just waiting to see how they all turned out. I can't wait to see them! Once I get the pictures I will definately be posting them here, so come back in the next week or two if you want to see how they turned out! I do have my wedding dress, slip, and veil already. My dress fitting is coming up on the 3rd of June. I want to make sure I look good in it so I have started a new healthy food plan and started hitting the gym to make sure I'm looking healthy when the big day comes. Sorry to all of you who want pictures of the dress, you will have to message me and have me send you pictures if you want a sneak peak. I won't be posting any dress pictures or bridals here until after the wedding, since I don't want Bob to see. I have all the bridesmaid dresses as well, and the flower girl dresses too (see last post for pics). We are still in the process of figuring out whether we want a band, DJ or just an ipod hook up for music... We should know soon. We also don't have a officiant yet. We asked Bob's brother if he would be able to do it, but he looked into what he would need to get a license, and won't be able to. Now we are just trying to decide who else we would want to marry us. We are also in the process of figuring out what we want to do for a honeymoon. We are still torn between spending a couple weeks exploring Orlando, or going on a Carribean cruise. I want to make sure everything is booked earlier rather than later, so hopefully we will know what we are doing soon, but right now we are having a hard time settling on a budget. I think that's all we have so far, but I will try to make sure as new updates come in, I will put it up here for everyone.

Flower Girls

I've always loved children, however since I was the oldest kid in my family, I didn't think I would be an aunt for a long long time. Fortunately for me, Bob has 4 neices, and 8 nephews (9 if you include Braxton, Tessa's foster son, who will hopefully be an official member of the family soon!) Of course when it comes to planning a wedding, there aren't too many parts for kids in the wedding ceremony. So instead of choosing one neice to be my flower girl and one nephew to be a ring bearer, I decided to have all the neices as flower girls and the nephews will escort their sisters down the aisle. Today my future sisters-in-law Tessa and Lisa went shopping with me to get the boys ties and to pick out flower girl dresses. We had good timing too! My neice Lauren lives in Washington, and my neice Devani lives up in Ogden, however both were in town today to try on their dresses and make sure they fit right. All the girls loved their dresses, but Lauren seemed to like hers most of all. She was twirling and spinning, and refused to take it off. I had to resort to bribing her to get her back into her normal clothes! She was so upset with me when I told her I couldn't move the wedding to tomorrow so she could stay in her dress. Such a silly girl! When I said bye to her though, she told me she loved me, and called me aunt Brittney. It was such a happy moment for me. Then my neice Katie, who was late to a baby-sitting gig, told her neighbor she was late because she was with her aunt picking out "wedding stuff". It's amazing how much I love hearing aunt already, I adore all these kids, and can't wait to make it official! Here are some pics of the girls in their dresses:

In the beginning....

In September of 2010 I went to work friends house to hang out with a couple of my work buddies. While there I met this funny, attractive man named Bob and I was instantly interested. However after spending several hours talking and getting to know one another, he said "It was nice to meet you Amber". I wasn't happy about that, after hours of talking he didn't even remember my name? I snidely remarked back "Amber? My name is not Amber" and walked away. Needless to say Bob was a little embarrassed and didn't say a word to me for the rest of the night. After he left however he was still thinking about me, he wanted to get to know me better, and was upset that he might have blown his only chance with me. He texted his ex-girlfriend who was still at the house with me and asked her if she could give him my number. After Tiffanie asked my permission, she sent him my number and he immediately texted me asking if he could take me on a date to make it up to me. I was still slightly smitten with him so I agreed and he began planning a date. A couple days later however a group of work friends was planning a trip to Wendover to celebrate Tiffanie's birthday, and Bob and I were both invited. We ended up spending the entire night hanging out with each other and talking (not doing anything inappropriate, I'm not that kind of girl!) It didn't take long for me to realize I was already falling for him. A couple days later we had our first (planned) date. We spent the entire day at lagoon, then went to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory before going to a concert together. It ended up being a 16 hour date, the longest I've ever had by far, and the best date as well. Since that day we have been attached by the hip. We went to a couple jazz games, went on some dinner and movie dates, saw Kate Nash in concert, went on vacation to Las Vegas for my 21st birthday, spent time outdoors camping and hiking, and even jumped out of a plane together. The more time we spent together the more we loved each other. In August 2011, We moved in together, just the two of us, and of course our many pets. Life was so blissful together, we couldn't imagine life any other way. On February 15th 2012, Bob asked me to dress up because he was taking me to a late Valentine's Day dinner (We both had to work the night before) Bob took me to Carver's, and we gorged ourselves on steak, and wine. It was wonderful. Just when I thought it couldn't get much better, Bob started giving me the speech about how he couldn't imagine life without me, and how excited he was to share the rest of his life with me. Then he got down on one knee and asked the question I had been waiting to hear "Will you marry me?" I think I probably said yes around fifty times as he tried to slip the ring on my trembling hands. I was so excited I didn't care that the whole restraunt was turned around in their seats staring and clapping. All through desert I could see people turning and pointing at our table, and some of them even congratulated us as they left. I was so excited! Afterward we went to both families houses to share the good news. I'm so madly in love with Bob, He is my best friend, and my rock. I'm so excited to marry him, and to share the moment with all the people we love and hold dear.

Introduction

As I have grown up I have noticed that people I thought I would see all the time have slowly left my life. Not because we didn't want to spend time with each other, but we have just gotten caught up in our own lives! Everyone is busy with college, jobs, and starting or raising their own family. Even people I always thought I would be close to have become near strangers to me. This blog is for my family and friends, so you will know what is going on in my life. It's also for me, as sort of a journal of life events as they happen. Right now I'm engaged and planning a wedding, so I feel like this is a perfect place to start since there are so many adventures to come! Thanks for reading!
