A Proper Kick Off to 2014

2014 started with a bang with a much anticipated visit from my Sister-in-law Ana and her kids David, Jonathon and Lauren, who drove all the way from Washington to see us! They couldn't stay for too long, after all the kids had to go back to school, but we took advantage of every minute we had! We stole the kids for a sleepover, visited ice castles in Midway, had a New Years Eve party and then wore ourselves out sledding until we were so famished we went to the buffet to stuff our faces. It was such a fantastic couple of days that I was nearly able to forget about all my stress and worries and just have fun. At least until I started developing this nasty cold! Here are the pictures of the highlights of their stay:

David was being difficult to get pictures of

Ana and I

Lauren really like the ice castles even though this is
the best smile I could get out of her

Jonathon was being such a goof ball

Now he's pretending to be gangsta

Cool blue icicles

Believe it or not, Lauren asked for this picture to be taken
and made her face look like she was miserable. Little
stinker!

Dani and I

The kids decided to have a snow ball fight, too bad I didn't
catch most of it.

The best picture I got of the snowball fight, Lauren
making her snowballs

Blue ice

Miss Lolli

New Years Day sledding, this was the
long train, Jonathon and David tried to
chicken out but we got them in the end

I'm the only one that got the act scared memo
obviously

Don't mess with my nieces, they're tough!

Sugar challenge, I won!

Bob was easy competition

Robert thought this and some cotton candy
would be enough to win...

Sorry Russell, weak sauce!

Their parents didn't teach them how to handle
their sugar rushes

Nice try Lolli

Even his second round couldn't catch up to
my first round pickings

Robert and his cotton candy

It's a hit with the kids
Even David was enjoying it

And when it's gone, what do you get? A
unicorn horn of course!
Even us "adults" got in on the action

Whether we wanted to or not
Lolli unicorn

Evil unicorn
She decided to kill me with her horn

The boys didn't want to be unicorns,
so they became vampires
We teach the kids really great habits, like
playing with your food is fun...
She thought she could hide from the camera
Then she gave up
And Mimi joined in
